Ironline Tactics

Ironline Tactics is the kind of strategy game that punishes carelessness in a good way. You move units across a grid, capture points, and manage a small pool of resources. There's no rushing; the best runs are the ones where you plan two turns ahead.

The maps are compact, which suits mobile perfectly. A single skirmish takes maybe eight minutes, so you can finish one on a coffee break. The difficulty curve is fair, and losing usually means you learn something rather than getting cheated.

My only gripe is the tutorial rushes through a few mechanics. Once you're past that, though, it opens up into something genuinely clever.
